Alfredo Canales

Alfredo "Freddy" Canales, 50, of West Frankfort; died at 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2011 at the St. Mary's Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 in the Resurrection Baptist Church of Benton, with Rev. Karl Barnfield officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Resurrection Baptist Church 108 South McLeansboro Street, Benton, IL 62812. Arrangements are through the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton.

Mr. Canales was born on December 11, 1960 the son of Guadalupe Canales Sr. and Ramona (Holguin) Canales. He married the Sherri Mundt in 1987 and she survives.

Freddy along with his wife Sherri were the former owner/operators of CC's Cafe in West Frankfort. He attended the Fires of Revival Church of Benton.
Freddy loved his family and loved to cook and enjoyed cooking and feeding people. He also enjoyed working in his yard and his dog Bruce.

He is survived by his wife Sherri Mundt of West Frankfort, a daughter Veronica Canales of West Frankfort, a son Armando Canales stationed with the United States Marines Corps in North Carolina, a grandchild Kayden Canales of North Carolina, four brothers, Ricardo Canales of Texas, Jose Canales, Sr. of Chicago, Elias Canales of Chicago, Raul Canales of Chicago, three sisters, Maria Delatorre of California, Isabelle Hernandez of Wisconsin and Yolanda Canales of Chicago, his dog Bruce, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Canales was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Guadalupe Canales, Jr. and Freddy's twin brother Arturo Canales who died on October 4, 2011.
