Donald Ray Flowers, 78, of Christopher; died at 3:35 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2011 at the Harrison Cemetery near Buckner, with Brother Danny Fletcher officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Arrangements are through the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton.
Mr. Flowers was born on August 10, 1933 in Christopher the son of James Thomas Flowers and Eloise Aritta (Derrington) Flowers.
He was a member of Sabbath Baptist Church in Benton. Donald Ray was a handyman. He formerly worked as a toolmaker and machinist. He enjoyed collecting many different things and enjoyed watching The Wheel of Fortune game show on television.
Donald Ray is survived by his fiancee' Mary Clanton of Christopher, a brother David Flowers and wife Carol of Christopher, a half-sister Polly Kay Noguessor of the Wood River area, a close friend Isom Harrison of Christopher, two cousins Suzanne Moyers of Valier and Diane Derrington of Christopher, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Jack and Sammuel Flowers, an infant sister Betty Flowers, and a close friend Jack O'Dell.
