Elmer Henry Valleroy, age 73, of Benton, Illinois, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital of Newburgh, Indiana.

Per his wishes, private services will be accorded.

The Leffler Funeral Home, of Benton, is in charge of the arrangements.

Elmer was born on October 19, 1949, in Peoria, Illinois; the son of Nathan Valleroy and Adelaine (Casley) Valleroy. He married Cheryl Ann Livesay on January 1, 1983, and she survives.

He was an over the road truck driver, owning and operating his own truck. He was an excellent driver and was never involved in an accident. He was Universal Trucking’s Driver of the Month, May 2012. He retired from Universal Trucking in 2017.

Elmer served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he served stateside and was a personal assistant and driver for a General.

He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering on his truck, watching NCIS, gardening and barbecuing. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids.

Surviving is his loving wife Cheryl Valleroy of Benton, IL; his mother Adelaine Valleroy of Christopher, IL; six children: David Wayne Valleroy and wife Melissa of West City, IL, Christina Renee Bivins and husband Travis of Dupo, IL, Wesley Keith Dunn and wife Julie of Bessemer, AL, Daniel Joseph Valleroy of Florida, Sarah Elizabeth Klein and husband Ethan of Anna, IL, Katherine Denise Valleroy of Benton, IL; grandchildren: Britney Robey of Benton, IL, Taylor Robey of Christopher, IL, Jacob Robey of Benton, IL, Zachary Robey of Benton, IL, Tiffany Lynn Bivins of Dupo, IL, Anthony Scott Bivins of Columbia, IL, Andrew Ryan Dunn of Williston, ND, Dallas LeeAnn Klein of Anna, IL, Khaleeyah Deshanay Davis, Knahdiyah Daiyhonna Davis, Sylis Sebastian Flynn Valleroy, Cole Maddox Milner, Etta-Kate Evelyn Milner, all of Benton, IL; six great-grandchildren; special nephews: Tim Learned of Christopher, IL, Jacob Learned and wife Erin of Suffolk, VA; and a special niece Casondra Lynn Denton and husband Paul of Madisonville, KY.

He was preceded in death by his father Nathan Valleroy; and a sister Dianna Lynn Learned.
