Florine Roberta Kent

Florine Roberta Kent, 89, of Whittington, IL went to be with the Lord at 1:03 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Franklin Hospital in Benton.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2012 in the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton with Pastor Harol Whitlock officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery of Benton. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton.

Mrs. Kent was born on August 12, 1922 in Benton the daughter of Ulas Vaughn and Zina (Galloway) Vaughn. She married Vernie Kent on June 22, 1941 and he preceded her in death on January 10, 1985.

Florine was a homemaker, loving mother and a prayer warrior. She was a member of the West City Church of God.

She is survived by her children: Bob Kent and wife Helen of Whittington, Keith Kent and wife Karen of Homer Glen, IL, Merita Weiser of Syracuse, IN, Mary and husband David Little of Lake Station, IN, Sarah and husband Sanjay Dhall of Canton, MI; sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law Larry Kent of Colorado, two sisters-in-law Ruth Kent of Benton and Nola Massey of West City, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons Jessie and Allen Kent; and three brothers Jessie Craig, Floyd Morgan and Oscar Overturf.

Memorial contributions may be made to the West City Church of God, 1233 Route 14 West, Benton, IL 62812 and will be accepted at the funeral home.
