Franklin Dee Arnold, Sr.

Franklin Dee Arnold, Sr., age 70, of Sesser, Illinois, passed away at 11:15 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2020 at the SSM Good Samaritan Hospital of Mt. Vernon.

 A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the Sesser V.F.W. Post #4753 in Sesser, with Military Honors by the V.F.W. Post #4753 Honor Squad. The family will receive guests from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Sesser V.F.W. Post # 4753.

Franklin Dee Arnold was born on November 6, 1949 in Plattsburg, Missouri, the son of Abe D. Arnold and Ada Pierce Arnold. He was raised by Harry and Virginia McIntosh. He married the former Linda Lou Young on April 14, 1989 and she survives.

Mr. Arnold was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Sesser V.F.W. Post# 4753.

He worked as a Laborer out of Local #773, where he was a member.

Franklin enjoyed racing, working on cars, motorcycles, picnics, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving is his loving wife Linda L. Arnold of Sesser; six children: Franklin D. Arnold, Jr. and wife Dawn of Madison, MO, Lori and husband Steve Burbridge of Bowling Green, MO, Jarad Arnold and wife Sherrie of Sesser, IL, Tammy Finke and husband Ryan of Sesser, IL,  Lonny Bailey, Sr. of Carterville, IL and wife Pamela of Pennsylvania, Rodney Bailey and wife Martha of Mt. Vernon, IL; his mother Ada; seventeen grandchildren: Shelby Arnold, David Keith Arnold, Anthony Arnold, Courtney Burbridge, Dillon Burbridge, Katie Reuther and husband Will, Lindsay Arnold, Jessica Arnold, Madison Arnold, Jeremy Queen, Daniel Queen, Amber Endicott and husband Matt, Ariel Moore, Jeffrey Bailey, Lonny Bailey, Jr., L.J. Leopold, Tara Schifferdecker; eleven great-grandchildren; six siblings: Kay Westlake, Janie Glasby, Roger Brelsford, Nancy Andrew, Micky Syverson, Brandy Anthony; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; the foster parents who raised him; a great-granddaughter Nellie Canady Eroh; two sisters: Cora Bearden and Ila Faye Cox; three brothers: Sam Brelsford and Mark Edwards and twin brother.

Per the family request, In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sesser V.F.W. Post # 4753, or to the family of Franklin D. Arnold, Sr., and will be accepted at the service on Saturday.
