Jack L. Thomas, Jr

Jack Lavoid Thomas, Jr., age 68, of Benton, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022, at his home.

His wishes are to be cremated with no public services.

Leffler Funeral Home of Benton; is in charge of the cremation arrangements.

Jack was born on December 3, 1953, in Benton, Illinois, the son of Jack L. Thomas, Sr. and Betty Jo (Reed) Thomas. He married the former Mary Joe Marsh on March 8, 1973, and she survives.

Jack served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was a retired autobody mechanic with Jamerson Auto.

In recent months was Baptized by Pastor Paul Keller with the Resurrection Baptist Church of Benton. 

He enjoyed attending dirt track car races, especially sprint cars. Also, he enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and his two dogs Heineken and Chevy.

Jack is survived by his loving wife Mary Joe Thomas of Benton, IL; a daughter Sabrina Jo Thomas and Jason Bishop of Benton, IL; a son Jakob Ray Thomas of Benton, IL; four grandchildren: Payton Thomas, Laynee Thomas, Dillon Jakcob Bishop, Alexus Marie Bishop; a brother Terry Thomas of Benton, IL; and a sister Sabrina Marcelin of Langdon, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Keith Thomas.
