James Riley Perryman, 98, of Thompsonville, IL went to be with the Lord at 12:05 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at his home.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2011 in the Logan Church of God with Rev. Roger Moore, Rev. Larry Odam and Rev. David Mays officiating. Burial will be in the Plasters Grove Cemetery north of Thompsonville. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening in the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton, and from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. in the Logan Church of God.
Mr. Perryman was born on May 31, 1913 in Logan, IL the son of Humbert Perryman and Ardelle (Woodrow) Perryman. He married the former Flodeen Abbott and she preceded him in death on August 24, 1998.
James was a retired coal miner and a 60 plus year member of the U.M.W.A. Mr. Perryman was a member of the Logan Church of God.
Mr. Perryman is survived by a son Denton Perryman of Carbondale; a granddaughter Daury Perryman of Los Angeles, CA; five sisters Maxine Ransom of Montana, Linda Ray of Thompsonville, Joyce Ann Fryman of Mattoon, Nadine Wilson of West Frankfort, Norma Jean Mocaby of Logan and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son Darrell Perryman, step-mother Mary Nelson, two infant brothers, and five sisters Mary Irvin, Beulah Webb, Ethel Moore, Vonda Kerley and Novella Rich.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Plasters Grove Cemetery Fund or the SSM Hospice of the Good Samaritan and will be accepted at the funeral home on Sunday evening and at the church on Monday.
