Jenifer Persuhn

Jenifer Lyn Persuhn, age 54, of Benton, IL; passed away at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

Her wish is to donate her body for scientific study, with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. The Leffler Funeral Home of Benton is in charge of the arrangements.

Jenifer was born on August 23, 1971, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Norman Reid and Sandra Lee (Owens) Mason. She married Ray Edward Persuhn in 2010, and he survives.

She worked as a Senior Healthcare worker with the Help at Home agency.

Jenifer enjoyed wildlife. She helped with rehabbing injured wildlife and answered the local Animal Rescue Hotline. She also enjoyed reading books.

Surviving is her loving husband of 15 years, Ray Persuhn of Benton, Illinois; her son Christopher Dean Harris of Benton, Illinois; her mother Sandra Lee Mason of Lincoln, Illinois; her father Norman Reid of Chicago, Illinois; a brother Matthew Mason of Hartsburg, Illinois; two nephews: Mitchell Mason and Luke Mason; and her best friend Leilani Ellis of West Frankfort, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.
