Joseph Gingles, JR, 87, of Benton; died at 2:35 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011 in the St. Mary's Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 in the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton, with Rev. Steven Flach officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton, with Military Rites to be performed by the Benton American Legion Post #280, V.F.W. Post #2671 and the Illinois National Guard. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening in the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton.
Mr. Gingles was born on December 5, 1923 in Toronto Canada, the son of Joseph Gingles, SR and Ada Evelyn Gingles. He married the former Mardell Fern Parks on July 14, 1969, and she survives.
Mr. Gingles was the former owner and operator of Gingles Bar in Christopher. He also was a retired truck driver from Subpoena Motor Company a division of Emery Airfreight. He was a member of the Teamsters Local in Oak Brook, IL and the Morton Grove Moose Club. Mr. Gingles attended the Faith Baptist Church of Benton and was a US Army veteran of World War II.
Joseph is survived by his wife Mardell Gingles of Benton; two step-children: Edwin Mark Rohr of Morton Grove, IL and Jacqueline Rohr of Elk Grove, IL; a grandchild: Jeneffer Ellis of Morton Grove, IL; two great-grandchildren: Jazman and Jasen Ellis both of Morton Grove, IL; a sister: Ruth Gingles of San Diego, CA and four nieces.
Mr. Gingles was preceded in death by his parents; a step-daughter: Karol Rohr; and three sisters: Etta Roach, Mary Rootenburg and Evelyn Kocasko.
Arrangements are through the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home in Benton.
