Phyllis Jane Herrmann

Mrs. Phyllis Jane Herrmann, age 90, of Benton, passed away at 4:02 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 2023, at her home in Benton.

Her wishes are to be cremated with no public services at this time.

The Leffler Funeral Home of Benton is in charge of the cremation arrangements.

Phyllis was born on December 23, 1932, the daughter of Samuel Gough and Grace Armstrong Gough. She married Donald R. Herrmann, and he preceded her in death on November 21, 1997.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Mrs. Herrmann enjoyed being outdoors surrounded by beautiful flowers. She loved to travel, read, bake, and walk outdoors. Her favorite time of year was Christmas, for which she enjoyed decorating her home. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her three loving children: Donald R. Herrmann, Jr. of Addison, Illinois, Steven T. Herrmann of Benton, Illinois, Cynthia L. Koch of Elwood, Illinois; five grandchildren: Brittany Burch and husband Kevin, Brandon Koch, Christopher Koch and wife Kayla, Justin Koch, Matthew Herrmann; six great-grandchildren: Haley, Alexis, Melody, Zachary, Jackson, and a newborn Benjamin; several nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son-in-law Larry Koch, two brothers John Gough and Bill Armstrong, two sisters Lylas Serbin and Helen Gough.

The family would prefer memorial contributions be made in memory of Phyllis to the SSM Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
