Raymond Edward Dohr, age 78, of Benton, IL, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at his home.

Ray was born on July 26, 1943, in Merrill, Wisconsin, the son of Edward Dohr and Florence (Pankow) Dohr. He married the former Marilyn Holcomb on October 15, 1964, and she preceded him in death on April 25, 2016.

He was a mechanic and service station owner in Waukegan, Illinois, until his retirement. After retiring he and his wife moved to Benton and Southern Illinois to be closer to their daughter and her family.

Ray enjoyed fishing, especially crappie fishing at Rend Lake.

Surviving is his daughter Linda Persman and husband Jim of Mt. Vernon; three grandsons: Eric Persman, Michael Persman, Jacob Persman, and fiancée Lacey also of Mt. Vernon; a brother-in-law Donald Wendell of Benton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother Allen Leroy Dohr; and a sister Barbara Wendell.

Ray’s wishes are to be cremated. 

Cremation arrangements are through the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton.
