Sharon Bernice Gillis, 57, Benton, IL, died at 4:04 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011 in the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton , with Rev. Eddie Paul Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Creek Cemetery near Dahlgren. Visitation will be from noon Thursday until the funeral hour of 2:00 p.m. in the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton.
Mrs. Gillis was born on May 29, 1953 in Dahlgren, IL the daughter of Dwight and Mildred (Mangrum) Erwin. She married James L. Gillis on May 19, 2005.
Sharon formerly worked as a CNA with Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin, Illinois.
Surviving are her husband: James L. Gillis of Benton, a son: Daniel Snider and wife Christy of Hurst, her mother: Mildred Erwin of Benton, five grandchildren: Alicia Batteau of Herrin, Jessica Fowler, Brandon Snider and Derek Snider all of Benton, and Haley Snider of Hurst; Four great-grandchildren: Dawson Jackson, Kaiden Fowler, Bryson Williams and Caleb Fowler; four brothers: Doug, Ronnie and Kenny Erwin all of Benton, and Curtis Erwin of Coello, five sisters: Phyllis Erwin and Audrey Miracle of Benton, Joyce Bennett of Tennessee, Deloris Mayberry of Flora and Brenda Beasley of Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gillis was preceded in death by her father: Dwight Erwin, and a son: Brian Gregory Snider, who died on April 27, 2010.
