Steven Brian Summers, age 56, of Bebee, Arkansas, formerly of Benton, Illinois, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, at his home in Arkansas.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton, with Pastor Kurt Sanders officiating. Burial to follow with Military Honors by the U.S. Air Force, will be in the Mt. Etna Cemetery of Thompsonville, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton.
Steve was born on February 21, 1967, in Benton, Illinois; the son of Leslie James Summers, Sr. and Kathleen Anne (Colliton) Summers.
He was a graduate of Benton Consolidated High School Class of 1985. After high school he joined the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1985 until his retirement on May 8, 2006. While in the Air Force he served as a flight engineer.
Steve loved music, video games, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed sports. Steve was a LSU fan, he also was a Green Bay Packers fan and a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Surviving are two sons: Alex Summers and wife Trisha of Cabot, AR, Averie Summers and wife Emily of Sherwood, AR; his loving mother Kathy Summers of Thompsonville, IL; two grandchildren: Kyleigh Hanna Summers and Jaydin Summers; three brothers: Rev. Leslie James Summers, Jr. and wife Rev. Jackie Summers of Bardstown, KY, Rev. Gregory Summers and wife Christi of Atlanta, GA, Danny Summers of Thompsonville, IL; two aunts: Connie Colliton of Fayetteville, NC, Edith Gostowski of Christopher; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Leslie James Summers, Sr.; his paternal grandparents Sherman “Red” Summers and Fonda Irene (Brown) Summers; his maternal grandparents Edward F. Colliton, Sr., and Barbara J. (Sheely) Colliton.
