Mary Susan “Rainbow” Heater, age 75, of Benton, passed away at 6:40 a.m. Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the St. Louis University Hospital.
Susan’s wishes were to be cremated.
Memorial Celebration of Life Services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton with Rev. Bryant Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Thurmond Cemetery of Ewing. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to Noon Saturday at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton.
Mary Susan Heater was born on April 27, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas; the daughter of Ted Dick and Lorraine (Marnell) Dick. She married Charles L. “Chuck” Heater on June 1, 1968; and he preceded her in death on June 13, 2010.
Susan was a retired teacher with the Ewing Grade School.
In recent years she attended the Rescue Free Will Baptist Church of Ewing.
She enjoyed on-line shopping, flowers, and loved animals. But most of all she loved her granddaughter Payton and loved spending every minute she could with her.
Surviving is a son Ted Heater and wife Leigh of Ewing; a granddaughter Payton Somer Grace Heater of Ewing; a sister Diane Williams and husband Joe of Wichita, KS; two brothers Bob Dick of Wichita, KS, Jim Dick and his partner Pam of Lawrence, KS; her special friend Cathy Neal of Benton; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a niece Rachel Sheridan.
