Walter Armes Obituary

Mr. Walter Ray Armes, age 82, of Benton, passed away at 10:37 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2020 at the SSM Good Samaritan Hospital of Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Armes’ wishes are to be cremated. The Leffler Funeral Home, of Benton, is in charge of arrangements.

Walter was born on January 7, 1938 in Franklin County, the son of Walter Monroe Armes and Mae (Bueller) Armes. He was married to the former Diane Carr, and she survives.

He was self-employed and worked various jobs helping others.

He enjoyed helping others by mowing their lawns, helping with projects, visiting with friends and family.

Surviving is his wife Diane Armes of Benton; four children: Rose Millikan of Benton, Tony Armes of Indiana, Jeffrey Armes of Johnston City, Joey Armes of Zeigler; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Vernon Armes of Orient, IL, Ralph Armes of West Frankfort; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers Deon Armes and Jimmy Armes.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Walter to the family to assist with funeral expenses, and may be mailed to the Leffler Funeral Home, 401 East Main Street, Benton, IL 62812.
