William Marion Roberts, 64, of Ewing; died at 7:40 a.m., Thursday, January 13, 2011 in the Intensive Care Unit at the VA Medical Center in Marion.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 17, 2011 at the Steel City Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. David Wiggins officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be in the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Leffler - Poulson Funeral Home of Benton, and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday at the Steel City Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Roberts was born August 3, 1946 in Benton, the son of Marion Roberts and Oma (Jones) Roberts. He married the former Linda Kays on September 28, 1973 and she survives.
William was retired from the Custodial Maintenance Department at Rend Lake Community College. He was a Deacon and member of the Steel City Missionary Baptist Church, and was a Viet Nam Veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife: Linda Roberts of Ewing, a son: Chris Roberts and wife Toni of Ewing, two grandchildren, who he loved nothing more than spending time with and that were the light of his life: Lucas Roberts and Makinley Roberts both of Ewing, his siblings: Wanda Frost of Benton, Vernon Roberts of Benton, Carolyn and husband Lonnie McLearin of Whittington, Jane and husband Larry Stowers of Benton, Lucille and husband John Elko of Benton, several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Steel City Missionary Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
